Fall leaf cleanup does not have to mean removing every leaf from your Arlington property. Start with the amount of material, decide what you can reuse, and keep loose yard debris out of streets and storm drains.
Match the cleanup to the amount of leaves
Texas A&M AgriLife's Earth-Kind guidance recommends mowing a light covering of leaves into small pieces and leaving those pieces on the lawn. A mulching mower is particularly useful for this approach. A substantial pile calls for a different plan; gather it for reuse or removal instead of treating it like a light scattering.
Choose a useful destination
Leaves can become garden mulch or compost. Shredded leaves break down faster and tend to stay in place better than whole leaves. If you have a suitable bed or compost area, decide how much material it can accommodate before collecting everything into one pile.
Earth-Kind advises excluding diseased or insect-infested plant material from home compost. Keep that material separate and ask about suitable disposal if you are unsure what affected the plant.
Keep drainage routes clear
The City of Arlington asks residents to keep leaves, grass clippings, sticks, and other yard waste out of storm drains. Do not use the street or a drain inlet as the destination for a leaf blower.
The city also advises against storing leaf piles and other potential debris along streambanks, where water can carry them into the stream. Choose a collection location away from those areas and agree on how the collected material will be handled.
Separate leaf cleanup from larger tree work
When requesting a quote, describe leaves, fallen branches, and any other debris separately. Photos of the yard and access points help explain the scope. A leaf cleanup request should not leave the crew guessing whether the job also includes substantial branch removal.

Make a simple plan before scheduling
List the areas to clear, the leaves you want retained for garden use, and any access restrictions. Confirm whether removal is included in the estimate and where reusable material should go. Hernandez Tree Care and Landscaping can discuss the cleanup needs of your Arlington-area property.
